Connect and Support

Alpha
Alpha is a 10 week, practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed for those who want to explore Christianity in an open-minded setting, find answers to the big questions of life or simply re-engage with their faith on a deeper level.

Employment Transition Ministry
Our nation has seen some tough times economically.  The goal of this group is to help those interested in finding a job succeed in their search through mentoring, networking and resumé building.

Funeral and Bereavement
Our ministerial staff is available to officiate at and provide assistance in planning a funeral.  We appreciate the opportunity to show God’s love and comfort to families and friends during times of grief.

Homebound Ministry
The goal of this ministry is to reduce the sense of isolation that is often felt by people living in assisted living facilities or nursing homes.

Hospital Visit
When a member or church friend is in the hospital, we like to know.  Please contact us if you or a family member would like a visit or prayer over a hospital visit.
*Please note this contact information is for non-emergency, weekday situations only.

Information and Referrals
We are happy to provide information about local services available to older people; including assisted living facilities, adult care homes, home care agencies, long-term care and nursing homes.

Prayer Requests
At First United, we believe in the power of prayer.  If you have a prayer concern that you would like lifted to Jesus, let us know.

Healing/Counseling Ministries

Abba's Family
Abba’s Family follows a rigorous discipline of waiting on God and works to establish an authentic healing community.  A licensed clinical social worker and two to three lay co-leaders form the leadership team in each spiritual family.

Celebrate Recovery
Using a 12-step model, this ministry helps people discover how to overcome life's hurts, habits and hang-ups while cultivating Christian maturity.  Celebrate Recovery is a national program.

Counseling Prayer
This ministry helps resolve emotional, spiritual and relational problems by discovering the origin of hurtful life patterns and allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to heal.  Lay and ministerial counselors are available.

Healing Prayer
The healing prayer team meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the Regeneration service in the YFC Gym and at 11:00 in the Sanctuary building’s 4th floor commons.  This group provides prayer for the special needs of people in crisis or pain.

Altar Prayer
Trained lay ministers are available at the altar in the sanctuary each Sunday morning at all three worship services.  They pray with people at the altar who indicate a need for prayer and give information and referrals to our healing and care ministries.

Emergency

In case of emergency (death, illness, etc), call 918.592.3862.

If you are calling after-hours or on the weekend, leave your name, phone number and explain your need. A minister will contact you as soon as possible.
