If you’re interested in teaching in the adult curriculum in 2012, the teacher’s application is now posted online. Just fill it out online and it will automatically be submitted. There’s also a way to save your work if you want to do it stages.
During the daytime, Angie Classen in the Adult Learning Department can assist you in completing this if you have difficulties: adulted@fumctulsa.org or 918.592.3862, ext 327.
You will want to be aware of a couple of things to help you make your decision to teach in 2012:
- The curriculum will be a dynamic, sermon-based curriculum, with sermons by our Senior Pastor, related Bible studies for the classroom by Arden Autry, and sermon discussion and teaching helps by yours truly. A brief intro to this concept was emailed to you several days ago, and there are copies of the “prototype” curriculum in my office on the corner of my desk.
- As usual, the basic commitment for a teacher is 26 Sundays—but (as usual) we will always work with your schedule, availability, and class preferences.
- Every 2012 teacher will need to be oriented to the new curriculum to be able to successfully teach it. Our Orientation Event is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, from 8 AM to Noon at the church. The online application gives you the opportunity to RSVP to this event, or to indicate your need for a “make up” orientation if you cannot make that date.
- The application requires you to list your top three spiritual gifts. Likely you’ve already taken the church’s spiritual gifts assessment—just use that information. But if you haven’t or you can’t remember your top three gifts, first go HERE and take the survey before opening the teachers’ application. You’ll find this spiritual gifts link inside the application as well.
I will be praying for you as you consider this invitation to apply to become part of a dynamic new year of teaching at First Methodist. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or comments about what’s in store for 2012.
Blessings,
Tom Hoffmann
